The postwar years of the 1950′s saw a whole economy change from military to consumer production. Army generals were no longer in charge. Now it was General Motors, the Big Three. Local hometown boys had become soldiers, nomads... a band of Gypsies in uniform sent around the world at someone′s whim.
Sensing this new freedom, function was supplanted by beauty and imagination; that was the 1950′s.
